FG, UNICEF launch new policy on gender education – The Sun Nigeria

The Federal Government has released the recently reviewed Nationwide Coverage on Gender in Training (NPGE).

The nationwide start and dissemination of the NPGE, which was held in Asaba, the Delta State money, was accomplished with the assistance of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Addressing members, which included education and learning stakeholders across the states in South-South and South-West, Director of Senior Secondary Training at the Federal Ministry of Schooling, Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, mentioned the NPGE was the reviewed Countrywide Plan on Gender in Basic Training (NPGBE) which was designed and printed in 2006.

Abdulkadir who was represented by the Deputy Director (Gender) at the ministry, Mrs. Felicia Ajanigo Abuka, said the revised coverage would now be employed at all ranges – from Early Childhood Care Progress and Instruction (ECCDE) to tertiary amount.

 She billed contributors to be fully commited to the implementation of the coverage document in their respective states in purchase to lower the disparities in access, retention, and completion at all amounts of education.

UNICEF Instruction Professional, Mrs. Azuka Menkili, informed members that her organization was delighted to get the job done with the Nigerian government and other associates in bringing the plan to fruition.

She reported the start of the document was “a demonstration of the transformative political will and strategic investment decision being made in girls’ education and learning in Nigeria.

“And we know what works to boost girl’s participation in schooling – from hard cash transfer programmes, to compacts with guys and with communities, to several, versatile, and licensed understanding pathways, to investing in techniques progress for ladies.

“Our problem heading forward is not to figure out what to do to realize gender equality, but how to produce these established methods through sustainable shipping mechanisms with pace, scale and top quality.

“UNICEF stands ready to work with governing administration, associates, communities, academics, moms and dads, and pupils to deliver significant-good quality educational expert services for each lady and boy,” she stated.
